Poor Clares are the Contemplative Branch
of the Franciscan Family

Our ministry is one of prayer so we live in a contemplative space, sometimes called a cloister.

Clare of Assisi's religious life was marked by contemplative prayer, a poverty marked by choosing "to live without financial security" and life in community. Therefore, our particular charism as members of the Franciscan Order emphasizes: living as simply and poorly as possible, contemplative prayer and community life.
