Joan
Kimball
I
was born and raised in the
Boston area, and I attended
Catholic schools from first
grade through high
school.
My goal in life was to be
a teacher. During my first
year of college, after a
day of classes, I would
ride the bus home. It just
happened that there was a
bus stop in front of the
Monastery of St. Clare and
I got into the habit of
making a visit to the
outside Chapel.
In those days the sisters
chanted the Liturgy of the
Hours and 3:00pm was when
they had Vespers. It was
also a time of strict
enclosure for the nuns so I
never saw anyone.
The Gregorian Chant sung
in Latin was awesome. Over
the course of several
months, I began to realize
that God was calling me to
share in this life of
praise.
I celebrated my Golden
Jubilee in 2001, so God has
been faithful!
Amen!
